It was a cold and gloomy week, with winds that stung and a chill that crept in under the hems of my jeans and stayed.
And today the weather broke. It was an unhazy day and the skies were clear, and the sun shone golden, sunshine that crisped the back of my neck as I unwound the scarf, bright light that dazzled the eyes after standing too long in no-longer elusive patches of sunlight. And as we walked, sweaters came off and moving back into the shade meant a pleasant, drenched, drugged state, and shivered as a breeze blew against sun-heated skin.
Shine on, you crazy diamond.
